#AlchemistObsessions: Goddess Inspired Skin Care from LXMI

Laxmi is the ethereal Hindu Goddess who rules prosperity, wealth, and (in my mind) happiness.

I have a shrine in my home dedicated to her, to the beauty of life, and to living out my highest dreams. When I sat down with my friend to sip on some matcha and she told me that she's working on the digital marketing team for LXMI skin care... I died and then rose from the ashes.

LXMI is an organic and natural skin care line created by Leila Janah.

Leila is a badass babe who created an award winning non-profit, Samasource, which outsources digital work to developing countries to lift people out of poverty and into abundance—and she's taken that same mission + philanthropic spirit straight into her latest venture, LXMI.

LXMI's main offerings include: a daily hydrating cream, a melting balm-to-oil (best used as an overnight face mask), an illuminating Goddess cream (to give you a naturally tinted glow), and a copper wand (to reduce puffiness, eliminate bad bacteria on the skin, and flush out your fascia).

As spiritual beings,

it's important to know

how your products are created,

how the ingredients are sourced,

and how well they work

Leila sources the line's main ingredient, nilotica butter, from Uganda.

The raw nut is sourced ethically + sustainably—and the social impact in the local community is strong.

LXMI's harvesters are paid three times the local average wage and the company is highly invested in the future of their farmers. They even feature digital interviews of the harvesters on their website, which you can watch here

So how well do the products work?

So well. I have 'type 2' rosacea—which means my skin is highly sensitive and prone to break outs that can't be cured by anything other than moisture and relaxation.

My rosacea flares up when I am upset and stressed—and honey, I have been both lately.

I've been carving out more time to relax, and part of that included me lounging in bed, spritzing my face with rose water and massaging the melt-to-oil overnight mask into my skin with the copper wand.

Needless to say, my face looked gorgeous the next day, and I've been using the balm every day since.

My sinuses unleashed pent up fluid in my facial tissue and I could feel it draining down the back of my nasal cavities. Because of the reduced fluid retention, my bone structure appeared to be more profound, and the heat (of my rosacea) came straight out of my face thanks to the metal compound.

I ended up googling 'why copper is good for your skin' for a straight hour last night—and it turns out rubbing copper against your skin helps boost collagen production, kills bad bacteria, and reduces swelling and redness. Who knew?

I sleep on silk pillow cases (to ensure my nighttime oils won't be stolen from my cells by a cotton pillow case), and I slathered my skin with ample amounts of the nilotica oil. To my surprise, my skin soaked in the melt while I slept, and I woke up with hydrated + happy cells. Not to mention use of the product benefits the world at large. Luxury skin care just keeps getting better and better...

Stay beautiful.
