Skin Brightening Facial:
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoon whole-wheat flour
1 ¼ tablespoon milk (soy, whole milk, coconut milk)
1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions: Mix turmeric, whole-wheat flour, and milk into a creamy paste. Mix in olive oil, and apply to freshly cleansed skin. Allow mask to sit for 15-20 minutes. Rub off face with an additional 3 tbsp. of olive oil until skin is soft and dewy. Rinse face with lukewarm water.

This facemask works to brighten your skin and erase dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. Turmeric powder is a natural inflamation reducer that gives your skin a glowy tint.  Whole-wheat flour is a gentle exfoliant, and works with smooth edges to erase superficial bumps on skin. The lactic acid in milk works to remove dead skin cells, while the vitamins and fat in milk simultaneously nourish the skin. Olive oil acts as a deep moisturizer that feeds your skin, without clogging pores.

This is an original recipe handed down to me from my grandmother, who always stated, “this mask has the power to transform any skin.” Use this mask as a weekly exfoliant to make skin appear bright and youthful, or to help reduce blemishes and inflammation. This mask is beneficial for all skin types and skin conditions. If you have oily skin or dark marks, squeeze a slice of lemon into the face mask – it will help reduce oil production and brighten the skin even further.
